Our Location
The Millstone Campus
Our beautful studio space is right downtown Nanaimo where you will find it bordered on two sides by the Millstone River. Learners spend plenty of time exploring the surrounding forest and stream, in our thoughtfully laid out play space, and of course, in the bright, open studio filled with natural light.
The Spark Studio
Ages 5 - 7
When you walk into this space you will immediately notice the beautiful natural light, the sense of spaciousness, and the hum of industrious energy. We have carefully curated a selection of Montessori learning materials and comfortable child-sized furniture so that our learners immediately feel at ease and ready to work when they enter the studio each day. As of September 2025, our Spark Program is technology free.
The Discovery Studio
Ages 7 - 12
The Acton Academy Discovery Studio is a dynamic, learner-driven environment where elementary-aged students explore core skills, creativity, and curiosity through hands-on projects and Socratic discussions. With freedom and responsibility, learners set goals, collaborate, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
The Campus
Every day, our learners spend both guided and unstructured time outside exploring and playing alongside the beautful Millstone River. They are witness to salmon spawning, roaming deer families, and even the occasional turtle. Your child will build forts, run in our grassy field and climb trees. Expect rosy cheeks and muddy boots at pick-up time!
The Play Space
This play space is full of large loose parts designed for open-ended play. Learners can manipulate the area to build any world or game they can imagine!
